Meteorite is the official undergraduate philosophy journal at the University of Michigan. We have been active since 1998, and we’ve published annually since 2018. This year, we’re trying something new: the Meteorite blog! Eissa Haydar is in his final year, studying math and philosophy with a minor in computer science. His current interests lie in computability theory, evolutionary game theory, and the philosophy of language. Beyond academics, he enjoys staring at the Huron river.
Abigail Peacock is a senior majoring in Philosophy with minors in Political Science and Italian. Her philosophical interests are in applied ethics, political philosophy, and philosophy of law. In her free time, she likes to go to the Ann Arbor Farmers Market and try new ice cream flavors at Blank Slate.
Kun Liu is a senior majoring in economics with a minor in philosophy. His philosophical interests are moral philosophy and political philosophy. Beyond philosophy, Kun enjoys painting, playing piano, and watching Netflix.
Shaira Marquez (she/they) is a senior at the UM School of Kinesiology studying Movement Science and Philosophy with hopes of one day being a chiropractor. She is interested in topics surrounding ethics, morality & decision-making and enjoys live music, well-written horror movies, good food, and traveling with family & friends.
Ammar Ahmad is a junior studying Philosophy and Cognitive Science with a minor in Arabic Studies. His interests in philosophy include, but are not limited to, philosophy of science and philosophy of language. In his free time, he likes to nap.
Jameson Kanary is a junior majoring in philosophy and minoring in sociocultural anthropology. His main interests are philosophy of language and Latin American anthropology. Outside of academics, he is a long-time competitive swimmer and a member of Michigan Club Swimming, as well as an avid reader of all types of books.
Irene Wang is currently a senior studying philosophy and computer science at the University of Michigan. Her main philosophical interests are metaphysics and epistemology. Besides philosophy, Irene enjoys reading, trying new things (especially food!), exploring the great outdoors, and spending time with loved ones.
Joshua Medintz is a senior philosophy major at U-M, focusing on aesthetics. He writes music criticism for The Michigan Daily and spent the summer as a culture writer for the Cincinnati Enquirer. He thinks.
Brad O’Brien is a junior studying Philosophy, Politics, and Economics and minoring in Business. He is interested in Legal and Political Philosophy. Outside of Meteorite, he is active in the Michigan Undergraduate Law Review, the Men’s Glee Club, and Kappa Alpha Pi.
Alex Nowakoski is a sophomore in the LSA Honors Program from Princeton, NJ. He is an intended philosophy major, specifically interested in contemporary metaphysics and formal logic. He is also a member of the Public Service Internship Program at Michigan this year and looks forward to spending next summer in Washington, DC with his peers. Outside of academics, Alex enjoys spending time with friends and family and playing pickup sports.
Eilene Koo is a sophomore majoring in Philosophy and Cognitive Science. She is still exploring the many areas of philosophy but is currently interested in applied ethics and epistemology. Outside of philosophy, Eilene enjoys listening to Laufey, writing for The Michigan Daily, and fueling her coffee obsession by trying out different cafes around Ann Arbor.
Ethan Eliassen is a second-year student from Rochester Hills, Michigan, majoring in mathematical biology and minoring in philosophy, computer science, and biochemistry. He is particularly interested in metaphysics, the philosophy of art, and the philosophy of happiness. Outside of school, you’ll most likely find him running, playing tennis, catching up on the latest GQ and Pitchfork articles, or trying to find the best coffee in Ann Arbor.
